SHUKYU Magazine Fun Issue

There is no single way to enjoy football. Playing, watching, wearing, reading, listening, collecting, eating, talking about it—each is part of the game, and each offers its own unique point of entry.

The theme of Issue 12, which also marks the conclusion of SHUKYU’s 10th anniversary year, is “FUN.” For this issue, we spoke with people who engage with football in a wide variety of ways: senior football players, designers, artists, photographers, collectors, futsal players, street football communities, comedians, rappers, pub owners, football shirt stores, bookstores, and many others.

Regardless of nationality, age, gender, or profession, the world that expands through football as a shared language is limitless. Through these features, we hope to explore the many different ways this sport continues to evolve and connect people.

As anticipation builds for what will be the largest World Cup ever held, this issue also shines a light on the people supporting this global event behind the scenes. We hope you enjoy the interviews, which offer a closer look into the thinking and perspectives of those working at the forefront of the game.

At the same time, we revisit the relationship between football, fashion, and culture. Rather than allowing these movements to remain temporary trends, we wanted to consider what is necessary for them to take root as lasting culture.

One of football’s greatest qualities is its ability to make both the once-every-four-years spectacle and the small moments of everyday life equally enjoyable. Like the players over the age of 80 featured at the beginning of this issue, continuing to find joy in football no matter your age may be the most important thing of all. Without losing sight of that feeling, we hope everyone continues to enjoy football in their own way.
