Ryo Adachi: I Want To Check The Shape Of Trees
This book presents a project by Japanese photographer Ryo Adachi, which he began three years ago. Shaped by the experience of COVID-19 lockdowns, changes in his personal life, and relocation, the project explores the theme of four intersecting relationships: ‘outside’, ‘inside the home’, ‘others’, and ‘the self’. Photographs depicting ‘the outside world’ and ‘the interior of the home’ are arranged in a way that blurs the boundary between them.
The book also explores new possibilities for the art book through a design that embodies its concept and blurs the boundary between inside and outside, featuring a binding in which different paper stocks alternate and a cut vinyl sheet applied to the cover.
