Architecture of Invention is a visual bibliography of unpublished architecture in the form of a textual, critical, and self-reflective research project. The networks of references and correspondences woven among the publications — not necessarily contemporary with one another, nor ideologically aligned — point toward a poetics of utopian drawing and radical design
Extensively illustrated, the selected titles are distributed across ten thematic sections, tracing multiple cultural trajectories and movements along an irregular timeline: Dynamic Architecture (the avant-gardes), Infinite Architecture (magical and numerical space), Elementary Architecture (the primary project), Rational–Irrational Architecture (construction/deconstruction), Architecture of the Image (pop and iconic spaces), Interplanetary Architecture (super-architecture and utopia), Conceptual Architecture (semiosis), Architecture of the Body (performance), Mega-Architecture (the metabolic city), and Hardcore Architecture (the contemporary space of crisis).
The research spans a century of intersections between architecture and other inspirational or kindred fields of inquiry, incorporating grafts and disruptions from adjacent literatures, border-disciplinary studies, avant-garde ruptures, anti-academic operations, and counter-editorial ventures.
In terms of formats, this approach takes shape through a variable repertoire of media and editorial devices: manifesto-like sheets, impassioned books of architectural prophecy, publications tied to formative movements, collective magazines, impossible anthologies, minimal philosophical and polemical pamphlets, radical dossiers, inserts or intervention-articles for journals, project boards, and theoretical or artists’ booklets.
